District bar elections

Sudhir Tyagi is the new president

In the prestigious district bar elections Sudhir Tyagi has been elected president. He defeated his rival Kushal Pal Singh Chauhan by a thumping margin. Tyagi secured 356 votes, while Chauhan had to content himself with only 113 votes. The results were declared by the election officer, Mohd. Haneef and the assistant election officers, Satish Chaudhary and Praveen Singh Dara.
In the keenly contested elections for the post of secretary, Jas Mahendra Signh Montu, who secured 134 votes, came out with flying colours, by routing his nearest rival, Kulwant Singh Chauhan who got 104 votes. Ashok Kashyap bagged the post of the vice president, Rizaul Hasan that of the joint secretary, Gurpreet Singh Pinta that of the treasurer, Rajiv Panwar that of the chief of the library and Deepak Kumar that of the auditor. Arun Kumar Bhadauriya, Mahendra Pratap Singh Gill, Farmood Ansari, Dushyant Kumar, Mukesh Kumar, Vijay Kumar Saxena and Rao Khalid were declared elected as members of the executive.

All the new office bearers and members of the executive, along with other advocates, assembled at the office of the bar association and thanked the entire bar members for their support and the smooth conduct of the elections. The newly elected office bearers also offered prayers at Har-Ki-Pauri.

Talking to Haridwar Plus, the newly elected president said that after getting overwhelming support from his colleagues, he felt that a greater responsibility rested on him and he would try to discharge it as per the aspirations of the members. "We will co-operate with the judicial officers. Harmonious relationship between the bench and the bar is the prerequisite for the delivery of justice", said the newly elected president. "The problems of the advocates and those of the litigants will be addressed on priority basis", said the newly elected secretary.
