Congress has criticised Uttarakhand BJP President Bishan Singh Chufal for asking opposition leaders not to talk about the ruling party being involved in corruption as they themselves have been involved in 56 scams. "In a democratic set up everybody has the right to speak on any issue. Moreover, how many cases were registered against Congress leaders in connection with the 56 scams and scandals unearthed during the party rule as alleged by the BJP," Congress Legislature Party spokesman Kishore Upadhyay told reporters here. Upadhyay said Chufal is the President of a responsible political party and is not expected to make such allegations just to mislead people of the state.

G.S. Jain, former Scientist Co-ordinator, CBRI, Roorkee inaugurated the effective earthquake resistant homes that would be constructed in the region. The name of the project is Mahavir Vatika Phase-I. In these homes use of hollow concrete blocks along with under reamed piles and specially designed corner and column blocks will provide an excellent RCC frame work thus imparting extra strength. In this structure no shuttering is needed and due to closely spaced columns, thickness in slabs is also reduced providing an overall safety. This is also due to use of only 5% mortar against 25%. Often POP is directly provided on the inside and a mix of cement, whitewash and fly ash in water is sprayed on the outside. The system provides longer life, heat, cold, moisture, noise and fire resistance as well. Padma Shri K.C.Johorey IAS (Retd.) declared the apartments open to public said there is need for the scientists to step out of labs and give lead to the workers in field, both in public and private sectors.
