Police should be people friendly

Say the dignitaries present at the 41st Police Science Congress held in doon recently:



The three-day 41st All India Police Science Congress (AIPSC) was held in the city recently at Forest Research Institute (FRI). Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishak' inaugurated the opening ceremony and Union Minister of State, Home Affairs/Information Technology, Government of India, Gurudas Kamat, was the guest of honour on the occasion. J.S. Pandey, DGP, Uttarakhand, delivered the welcome address welcoming the distinguished delegates, social scientists and professionals who had gathered on the occasion.

Kamat addressing the inaugural session said that for the multidimensional problems that the police is facing such conferences like AIPSC need to be organized on a regular basis so that the police becomes 'People Friendly'.

The Chief Minister also addressed the inaugural session and expressed his happiness about this was being organized in Uttarakhand. He said that police has an important role to play even in social development, and occasions such as Kumbh Mela 2010 that was peacefully conducted due to the outstanding conduct of Uttarakhand Police.Vikram Srivastva, DG, BPR&D, delivered introductory address on the occasion. A souvenir of 41st AIPSC was released on the occasion.
The Congress unanimously resolved that integrity of the highest order was needed and it was the responsibility of higher echelons to empower all ranks of police in this regard. Implementation of police reforms in accordance with the Supreme Court decision in Sh. Prakash Singh cases would be a definitive step in this direction.
